The Autumn of Han
Tour 2014-2015
Red Dragonfly's first UK tour of a Chinese classic for the European stage. The Autumn of Han is an enthralling story of corruption, revenge and tragic love.
The Autumn of Han has been adapted by Ross Ericson from HanGongQiu, a classic Chinese play originally written by Ma ZhiYuan in the 13th century. This new version has been specifically adapted with a European audience in mind and premiered at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013.

During the tour, the company worked with 21 provincial and rural venues, where 1108 people attended 28 performances. The production toured to various rural touring network such as PoundArts, CRTA, Highlights, and Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, and Nottinghamshire Rural Touring, and venues which are affliated with rural touring networks such as Arts Alive, Carn to Cove, and Villages in Action.
We received excellent reviews from audiences, promoters and theatre crew:
“The company was one of the easiest, friendliest and most helpful I've worked with. Very nice people, representing an interesting range of 'oriental nationalities'… The show itself was very good. It opened a window on the emotional side of ancient China not often portrayed in oriental work… Costumes were top notch. A most enjoyable evening!”
-Pat at Market Theatre, Ledbury (associated with Arts Alive)
“We all enjoyed having you in our village and Autumn of Han was much liked by our audience - very positive feed-back… We will be interested in your next show - I think a return visit would be appreciated in Whittingham.”
-Geoff Hoskin, Whittingham Promoter from Highlights Rural Touring
“It was great having you in Fulstow and we have lots of compliments about the show… Many thanks once again for a fantastic performance.”
-Jane and Michael Powell, Fulstow Promoters from Lincolnshire Rural Touring
